How this affects content: it doesn't. Ratings are set by the methodology before we check whether an affiliate program exists. Several of our top-rated tools pay us nothing. Affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored" in our code, and every page containing them shows a visible disclosure banner.

Other revenue: contextual display ads, clearly-labeled Featured Listings purchased by vendors (which never alter review scores or organic rankings), and optional newsletter sponsorships (labeled "Sponsored" when they appear).
